April 24th Selectboard Meeting

The Fire Department construction report was presented by Larry Seymour as follows: Interior trim is almost done and exterior trim is all done. Electrical is 98% done. Plumbing is being held up by installation of floor finishes (in process). Backup generator has been installed and is working. Completion of site work and the mound septic system await better weather. Solar array has been installed and is producing power—a state grant will pay 100% of cost and installation by contractor Solartec. Efficiency Vermont check was received to cover the cost of LED lighting (over $3,000). Larry noted the town gets credit for solar power generated. Scott asked what date the Dept. expects to be in the facility and Larry said “June sometime.” The pond will not be completed by that time but the state has agreed it need not delay move-in. Larry agreed his report may be put on the Town of Sutton website and agreed to provide a list of items the Dept. is seeking to have donated.

March 4th Town Meeting

Dana Patoine, Sutton Volunteer Fire Department update.  The new fire department building should be about $100,000.00 under budget thanks to Larry Seymour overseeing the project and saving money on the sprinkler system.  They are planning on holding an open house and a Flag Raising in June.  The number of volunteers is growing–to 19 members which is the largest of the volunteer fire departments in mutual aid.
